Our days are mainly sunny.
Summer temperatures can exceed 35ºC and cool down to a pleasant 10º-15ºC at night.
Our winters are crisp and cold with snow on the distant mountains. We can feel temperatures of 0-5ºC at night, heating up to pleasant daytime temperatures of 15-20ºC

A wide variety of animals can be seen while visiting The Stone Cottage:

Springbok, Kudu, Steenbok, Duiker, Rock Hyrax (‘dassies’), Antbear (aardvark) the

only surviving member of the Order Tubulidentata, Porcupines, Springhaas, Cape
hare, Suricate (“Meerkat”), Mongoose, Genet (“Muskejaatkat”), Vervet Monkeys,
Black-backed jackal (“rooi jakkals”), Cape fox (“silwervos”), Lynx (“rooikat”), Bat-eared
Fox, Aardwolf which eats mainly termites, Cape clawless otter, Tortoise.

Many bird species including: Blue
Crane, Bustards, Korhaans,
Goshawks, Kingfishers,
Woodpeckers, Sunbirds to name but a few.

Go on a veld-drive:
to get the best out of a drive, why not ask your hosts to take you  and discover bewitching Karoo scenery as far as the eye can see.

Take a walk on our marked foot trails and marvel at the amazing variety of plant
growth in the Karoo.

During the shearing season, we encourage our guests to participate in the
activities of gathering the sheep and goats for shearing. Children just love learning
more about where wool comes from.

Other activities nearby (but not on the farm) include:
• Golf • Tennis • Guided tours of historical sights • Trout fishing • Camdeboo National
Park and its incredible Valley of Desolation

“Our first visit to your lovely farm & The Stone Cottage guest house was over 7 months ago @ the start of our epic journey through Africa on bicycles, you were the first strangers to take us in. Now 7 months later we were back and this time as FRIENDS. Thank you for all the kindness the two of you have shown us, you two are LEGENDS and FRIENDS For Eva. You have an amazing farm and The Stone Cottage ROCKS!!! I will be back, but not on a bicycle!"
